Inmate convicted of terroristic threats missing from Lincoln prison

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities are searching for an inmate who went missing Thursday from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln.
Alex Reynoso Vargas, 23, did not return from his job in the community, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said.
Staff found his electronic monitor near 22nd and D streets.
Vargas was serving a sentence of up to three years for terroristic threats and third-degree domestic assault in Saline County.
He had a tentative release date of Aug. 11, 2024.
Officials said Vargas is a Hispanic male, 5-foot-4, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call local authorities or the Nebraska State Patrol.
The Community Corrections Center-Lincoln is the least restrictive type of facility in the state prison system.
Inmates are allowed to go to work, school or religious services unsupervised.
