Inmate dies at Lincoln’s Reception and Treatment Center

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An inmate died at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln on Thursday, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said.

Vern Krimmel, 63, was serving a life sentence out of Douglas County for first-degree murder.

While the cause of death has yet to be determined, Krimmel was being treated for a medical condition, according to officials.

Whenever an inmate dies, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
