Inmate serving time for second-degree murder dies at Nebraska prison

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An inmate died at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution on Wednesday, officials said in a press release.

Lloyd Schoonmaker, 80, was serving a 10-year to life sentence out of Cass County for second-degree murder.

While the cause of death has yet to be determined, Schoonmaker was being treated for a medical condition.

Whenever an inmate dies, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
