Inmate smashed computers, punched guard at Lancaster County Jail, court docs say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An inmate at the Lancaster County Jail is facing even more charges after police say he assaulted a corrections officer.
About 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, 32-year-old Donald Johnson smashed a computer at the guards’ desk to the ground, court documents say.
He then broke several more computers and a touch-screen monitor, according to an arrest affidavit.
Next, Johnson grabbed a chair and threw it at a TV, police said.
As correctional officers tried to restrain Johnson, he punched one in the head multiple times and spit on another one, according to court documents.
He has been charged with assault by a confined person.
Johnson has been in jail since June, when police say he went on a rampage at Bryan West Medical Center.
Court records allege that he broke a computer, slammed chairs into the ceiling and punched a security guard at the hospital.
He is accused of causing about $6,500 worth of damage.
Johnson is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in that case.
His next hearing in the jail assault is set for Sept. 24.
