Investigators find over 200 pounds of marijuana, mushrooms inside semi in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A semi driver was arrested Monday after investigators found over 200 pounds of drugs inside his vehicle in Lincoln, the sheriff’s office says.
Around 3:45 p.m., the agency’s criminal interdiction unit pulled over a semi truck for driving on the shoulder of Interstate 80 near the Northwest 48th Street exit.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said a K9 indicated the presence of narcotics inside the semi, leading to a search of the vehicle.
Inside, authorities found 135 pounds of marijuana and 117 pounds of mushrooms, according to Houchin.
The driver, 30-year-old Gebremedhin Bereke of North Carolina, was arrested on suspicion of intent to deliver.
