LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Iowa man was caught Thursday with a trunk full of marijuana on Interstate 80 in Nebraska, the state patrol says.

Around 11:30 a.m., a trooper pulled over a Volkswagen Jetta on eastbound I-80 near Overton.

The trooper smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, leading to a search of the vehicle, according to the patrol.

Troopers found 85 pounds of suspected marijuana concealed in trash bags in the trunk, the patrol said.  A handgun was also discovered.

The driver — 31-year-old Matthew Maly of Council Bluffs, Iowa — was arrested on suspicion of several felony drug charges.
