‘Irate’ naked inmate in southeast Nebraska caused $2,600 in damage, authorities say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An inmate at the Gage County Jail caused thousands of dollars in damage on Tuesday, authorities say.

A 52-year-old inmate “became irate” about 11:30 a.m., the Gage County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Surveillance video captured him in the nude, walking up to a video visitation system in his cell and punching it.

He caused $2,600 in damage, according to the sheriff’s office.

After he was dressed, the inmate told investigators that he was mad he was in jail and was worried about his dog.

The inmate, who was being held on three misdemeanors, was cited on suspicion of misdemeanor criminal mischief.
