‘It did make me scared’: Neighbors react after woman found dead in northeast Lincoln home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department is working to piece together what led up to the death of 43-year-old Tracy Henman.

LPD Assistant Chief Jason Stille said family members called police Thursday morning requesting a welfare check on Henman.

When officers entered her home, they found her dead.

A 40-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was also found in the house and is under arrest.

LPD said the two did know each other, but police have not yet revealed whether the homicide is domestic violence-related.

He was taken to the hospital after what police described as a medical episode inside the home.

“At this time, we believe there is no active threat to the community, while we have a man in custody, much more follow-up that needs to be done,” said Criminal Investigator Captain Ben Miller.

Investigators said it’s still unclear how long Henman had been dead before she was found.

A neighbor, who wanted to remain anonymous, said she just moved to the neighborhood.

“It did make me scared, especially with me being new to the area,” she said. “As a survivor of domestic abuse, I’m not sure if that was the situation, but to me, that’s what it sounded like. It made me sad that she couldn’t get out.”

Again, police have not confirmed this is a domestic violence case.

Just like many people, they all said they’re praying for Henman’s family.

“I’m just sending my condolences and sorry that happened to her,” she said. “I’m sorry that happened, and y’all have my prayers.”
