This Tuesday is National Cheese Pizza Day, and it’s observed every year on September 5th.
Your next pie doesn’t have to be just the standard mozzarella. Mix it up with gouda, parmesan, gorgonzola, or even cheddar.
People have enjoyed pizza for thousands of years. The Greeks had bread covered with herbs, oils, and cheese. The Romans would put bay leaves, cheese, and honey on dough.
Our modern idea of pizza began with the Neapolitan flat-bread pizza topped with mozzarella and buffalo milk.
