It’s National Moon Day, commemorating man’s first steps on Earth’s satellite
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —It’s National Moon Day, but it’s not necessarily a day to appreciate the constellations and outer space.
The holiday commemorates man’s first steps on the moon.
On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 landed on the lunar surface.
Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took those momentous first steps.
After stepping onto the moon’s surface, Armstrong famously said this was “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
