Jesske’s 3-run bomb helps Nebraska baseball stun No. 7 Auburn in extra innings

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska baseball team took game one of the series against No. 7 Auburn on Friday night, beating the Tigers 9-8 in 10 innings at Plainsman Park.
In the top of the 10th inning, Will Jesske hit a 3-run home run over the left-center wall to help guide the Huskers to victory.
As a team, Nebraska racked up 14 hits and only committed one error, while the Tigers tallied nine hits and two errors.
Auburn took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, but left the door open for the Huskers to slowly chip away the rest of the contest.
Case Sanderson led the Huskers from the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double.
Mac Moyer, Dylan Carey, Cole Kitchens and Jesske each had two hits for the Huskers.
Jesske led the team in RBIs with four, while Carey knocked in 3 runs.
Ty Horn got the start on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up five hits, five runs, and striking out five batters.
Game two of the series is set for Saturday at 2 p.m.
