John Cook ‘fired up’ as Jordan Larson joins Nebraska volleyball’s coaching staff

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Former Husker Jordan Larson is joining the Nebraska volleyball coaching staff this week, John Cook said Tuesday.

In June, Cook announced that Larson – who played at Nebraska from 2005 to 2008 – would become a full-time assistant coach for the Huskers.

“I’m fired up,” he said. “She’s another Husker. She’s a great player. She wants to be a coach. She wants to be at Nebraska.”

Cook is still working on how to incorporate Larson but said she has a “lot of wisdom to tap into.”

“I’m excited to be around someone that’s really passionate about Nebraska volleyball,” he said. “It’s just going to help build our energy, build our culture, all those things.”

The Hooper native earned several awards during her time at Nebraska.  She was named to the Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020.

After four seasons with the Huskers, Larson went international and played for Team USA, winning a gold medal in the 2021 Olympics.

She has also played professionally in Puerto Rico, Russia, Turkey, China and Italy.
