John Ewing ousts Jean Stothert in Omaha mayoral election

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert lost her bid for a fourth term Tuesday.

Stothert conceded to Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing, KMTV reported.

As of 9:45 p.m., Ewing, a Democrat, led the incumbent Republican 55% to 45% in the officially nonpartisan race.

Ewing will become the first Black elected mayor of Omaha.

Stothert has been in the mayor’s office since 2013.
