Oldson gets life in prison for murder of Cathy Beard

John Oldson was sentenced to life in prison Monday morning in Howard County District Court.
Oldson, a Missouri man, was convicted of second-degree murder on February 8 for the 1989 murder of 31-year-old Cathy Beard. Beard had disappeared in 1989, and her body was found near Ord in 1992. Oldson used to be a resident of Ord.
Oldson has asked for a new trial based on the arrest of a key defense witness four days after Oldson's conviction. His request was denied.
