Kansas City Royals fire President Dayton Moore

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After more than 16 years as a Royal, Kansas City President of Baseball Operations Dayton Moore has been fired.

Royals owner John Sherman announced the news at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

J.J. Picollo will now lead the baseball operations department.

Moore was part of the Royals’ 2015 World Series title, but since then, they have not had a season above .500.

The firing comes near the end of the 2022 season, with the Royals 30 games below .500.

The Royals are 59-89 heading into Wednesday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
