Kearney police officer strikes bicyclist during Cruise Nite event

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Kearney Police Department says an officer working at a local event collided with a bicyclist on Saturday night.

A social media post from KPD says witnesses saw the man riding a bike down Second Avenue during Cruise Nite.

He then entered the intersection at 27th Street, where the bumper of the police vehicle struck the bicycle, knocking the rider off.

The department said the rider refused treatment and would not provide information for an accident report.

This case remains under investigation.  Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact KPD at 308-237-2104.
