Kellogg’s to hire replacements for striking workers

OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) – The Kellogg’s Company has decided to find replacements for the striking workers following the rejection of a tentative agreement by the BCTGM Internation Union.

BCTGM rejected the tentative agreement on Tuesday, continuing the strike that began in October of 2021.

Chris Hood, President of the Kellogg Company made the decision to, “focus on moving forward to operate our business.”

“The prolonged work stoppage has left us no choice but to continue executing the next phase of our contingency plan including hiring replacement employees in positions vacated by striking workers,” said Hood.

Hood says the company has an obligation to provide for customers and consumers.

“While certainly not the result we had hoped for, we must take the necessary steps to ensure business continuity,” Hood said.

Hood’s decision to move on affects the jobs of 1,400 hourly employees at four cereal plants in Battle Creek, Mich., Omaha, Neb., Lancaster, Pa. and Memphis, Tenn.
