Kicking off meteorological spring with a spring-like pattern

We are finally exiting winter’s influence this weekend. Saturday was significantly warmer, with highs reaching the upper-40s in Lincoln. The day featured lots of sunshine, although some in southern Nebraska were able to see a few clouds.

Those clouds will fizzle out on Saturday evening. Skies will be clear overnight and into Sunday morning. We’re looking for a low near 17° in Lincoln.

Saturday Night Forecast

Make sure to get outside and enjoy the weather on Sunday, as temperatures will turn even warmer. We’re forecasting sunny skies with highs in the upper-50s to low-60s.

Sunday Forecast

We’ll be watching some clouds to our west on Sunday night. While I do think the majority of the overnight hours Sunday going into Monday will be mostly clear, clouds will arrive for Monday morning.

Skies should be partly to mostly cloudy on Monday initially, but I expect some afternoon clearing with highs in the low-60s. We’ll continue the warming trend through mid-week, with highs nearing 70° by Tuesday. This is the result of a heat dome overspreading the area.

Stormcast Upper Air Pattern - Wednesday Afternoon

Tuesday is the start of meteorological spring, and it will certainly feel spring-like! Temperatures remain well above average through the end of the workweek. Starting Friday, a series of disturbances will approach. This will have two effects: increased precipitation chances and decreased temperatures going into the weekend.
