Kicks for Kids hosts fundraising walk/run at James Arthur Vineyards

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An upcoming fundraiser will help buy new shoes for kids in need.

Kicks for Kids started in 2011 to help one elementary school teacher’s students get new shoes and has since grown into a full nonprofit.

Last year, it gave nearly 700 new pairs of shoes to elementary students in need.

This Saturday, the nonprofit will have a walk/run at James Arthur Vineyards in Raymond to kick-start the fundraising campaign.

Kicks for Kids board member William Boucher explained what people can expect when they go to the vineyard.

“We have a 1-mile for the for children and adults that that’s all the farther they want to go,” he said. “We have a half of a 5K, which, again, that’s you can run it or walk it, depending on what you’re comfortable. And then we have a full 5K available as well.”

The event starts at 8 a.m. and is $35 for adults 21 and older who want a complimentary bottle of wine.  It’s $20 for children and adults who do not want wine.

Both groups get a T-shirt and a medal.
