Kitchen fire kills dog, displaces family in southeast Lincoln, LFR says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue battled a house fire Thursday in southeast Lincoln.
Just after 12:15 p.m., crews were called to a home near 96th Street and Old Cheney Road for a grease fire.
According to LFR, smoke filled the home after the family left their stove unattended while heating up oil in the kitchen.
Officials said there were no injuries, but a small dog died due to smoke inhalation.
LFR was able to recover the dog’s body and put out the fire, containing it to the kitchen.
Three people living in the home will need to be relocated, LFR said.
There is no word on how much damage the fire caused.
