Knights escort girls basketball team out of small town in Nebraska Sandhills

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A girls basketball team in the Nebraska Sandhills got a regal escort to state basketball on Tuesday.

In a social media post, Sandhills Public Schools shared photos of two knights who escorted the district’s basketball team out of Dunning.

The knights were donned in full regalia, including helmets made from basketballs and a shield with the school’s insignia.

The Sandhills-Thedford Lady Knights were on their way to Lincoln for the state basketball tournament.

But the Lady Knights didn’t stay long in the capital city.

Howells-Dodge defeated them on Wednesday, bringing their season to a close.

The district said the girls played their hearts out and had a “tremendous” season.
