Lancaster County COVID-19 Risk Dial moves down into green
Weekly case numbers have dropped below 100 for the first time since July 2021.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County COVID-19 Risk Dial is moving down into the green category.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird.
“We have reached this milestone because of you, our residents, and the positive actions you have taken to protect yourself and others,” said Mayor Gaylor Baird.
Weekly case numbers have dropped below 100 for the first time since July 2021. Hospitalizations have also continued to decline locally.
The local positivity rate was down to 3.4% the week ending on March 19.
The health department has not reported a COVID-19 death since March 10.
Health Director Pat Lopez spoke about the BA.2 subvariant that is making up 23% of new COVID-19 cases, according to the CDC.
“It’s important to remain flexible. If our local situation changes, we will re-evaluate current recommendations and make adjustments as necessary,” Lopez said.
