Lancaster County deputies seize over $140,000 in stolen money; arrest suspects of bank robbery

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office seized more than $140,000 during a traffic stop in northeast Lincoln.

Around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, a deputy pulled over three men in a 2025 Nissan Altima near 56th Street and I-80 for unsafe passing.

During the stop, the deputy said he smelled marijuana coming from the car. After getting permission to search the vehicle, he said he found a pile of money.

“And they got consent from the driver, Jacob Wallace, and they searched it and found three backpacks full of cash,” said Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.

The recovered funds are estimated at over $140,000, and the three men are accused of breaking into an ATM.

“As the investigation continued, we learned they were responsible for robbing an ATM in Omaha, just hours earlier,” Houchin said.

That’s when the investigation took a turn: they began questioning them.

“They disclaimed the money and signed it off as they didn’t know that it didn’t belong to them,” Houchin said.

He said one of the three men had already been busy before reaching Nebraska.

Kendris Boston had a warrant for robbing a bank in Texas.

All three suspects are from Texas and were arrested and in custody for warrants out of Omaha, and the money was seized as evidence.

“I want to come out and just start saying I am so proud of our criminal injunction unit,” Houchin said.
