Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office identifies man killed in crash south of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office on Monday identified the man killed in a crash south of Lincoln.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. Saturday near Southwest 14th Street and Highway 33.

An SUV clipped the back of a semitrailer, and the driver – a 39-year-old Beatrice man – lost control, the sheriff’s office said.

The SUV then crashed into a pickup truck, driven by 53-year-old Bradley Kreifels of Crete, Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said.

Kreifels was pronounced dead at the scene.  The SUV’s driver and a passenger in the pickup truck were taken to a hospital.

The driver of the SUV is in critical but stable condition, Houchin said.  He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

An investigation is ongoing, but Houchin said speed was a factor in the crash.
