Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office looking for man who broke into Norris High School
NORRIS, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who broke into Norris High School on New Year’s Eve.
Just after midnight, camera footage caught the man breaking into the school, and the principal called the sheriff’s office the next morning.
According to the sheriff’s office, the footage shows the man walking up to the building, kicking in a glass door, and reaching inside the broken glass to open it.
He entered the building, but quickly left, according to authorities.
Investigators said he may have come from a nearby New Year’s Eve party.
This comes after all six members of the Norris School Board said they want to place a proposal on the May 12th primary election ballot to allow the district to allocate $35 million for enhanced school security.
If approved by voters, taxpayers in the Norris School District would help pay for the cost over the next 20 years.
As home values continue to rise, it could mean higher property tax bills for families.
The school board is expected to formally move forward with the plan at its next meeting on February 11th by signing a resolution.
