LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office announced its participation in a nationwide mobilization to crack down on speeding.

In a press release on Saturday, the sheriff’s office said the Speeding Prevention mobilization is geared toward reducing speed related fatalities.

Sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation, the sheriff’s office will participate in the mobilization by increasing the number of deputies working in marked cruisers.

Starting Monday, and continuing through July 29, the additional deputies working in marked cruisers will enforce all traffic statute violations and focus their efforts on speed related violations.

Overtime for the additional deputies working during the mobilization will be paid through a mini grant funded by the NDOT Highway Safety Office.
