Lancaster County woman scammed out of $21,000 in Apple ID scheme

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities were called to a home in southeast Lancaster County on Wednesday to meet with a woman who was recently scammed.
Deputies met with a 67-year-old woman who said she received a text message purportedly from Apple saying her ID card was fraudulently used.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said the woman was told to call the fraud department.
The scammers then directed the woman to take $21,000 from two of her bank accounts and deposit that money in a bitcoin ATM at a business in Lincoln.
After the woman deposited the money, she realized she was scammed.
