Lancaster Event Center hosts show featuring reptiles, exotic animals

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster Event Center opened its doors to some unique guests on Sunday.

The venue hosted the Show Me Reptiles and Exotics Show.

Vendors from around Nebraska gathered to buy and sell several animals, including lizards, hedgehogs and amphibians.

Sam Roy, a coordinator and educator with Show Me Reptiles, said it’s all about promoting research and proper care of exotic animals.

“Our big mission statement is breaking stigmas here,” he said. “Everybody thinks these are scaly slimy little lizards or snakes, and we’re just here that a lot of them have recognition and affection just like a normal pet or dog.”

If you missed the show last week, Show Me Reptiles is returning to Lincoln in April.
