Laptop battery causes $8,000 in damage in south Lincoln garage fire

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue battled a small house fire Saturday evening in south Lincoln.
First responders were sent to a home near 20th Street and Pine Lake Road just after 5 p.m.
When crews arrived, there was smoke coming from the garage and all the occupants of the house were in the front yard.
Video sent to our NOW Local News App shows crews airing out the garage.
The fire inspector said the fire was contained in the garage, and was started by a lithium battery inside a laptop. The laptop was sitting on top of a laser printer.
Officials with LFR said said the laptop, printer and other personal items were destroyed by the fire, causing $8,000 in damage. No injuries were reported.
