Large fight between 15 people leads to brief chase in Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police say a large fight among 15 people ended with a short chase on Wednesday.

This all happened at North 22nd and Sheldon Streets around 8:30 p.m.

Police said the fight was broken up when officers arrived, and a vehicle was spotted leaving the area.

They say Daygeon Bateman got out of it, then dropped a pistol on the ground.

The 21-year-old is accused of running off after picking up the gun, but he didn’t get far.

Bateman was found in a backyard just a few houses away, along with the weapon.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm by prohibited person, obstructing police and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
