Largest Nebraska Boat, Sport and Travel yet gets underway
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – For the past 56 years, Lincoln has been hosting the Nebraska Boat, Sport and Travel Show.
From Friday through Sunday, the Sandhills Global Event Center will be hosting over 50 vendors from around Nebraska, making this the biggest show yet.
“In our community, camping has really taken off, especially since COVID-19, so there’s more local dealers,” said Ron Bohaty, managing director of the event center.
The event is using three buildings this year.
“We have more RV stores available to us locally and they want to showcase all their products, so we needed to make sure they had enough room in the buildings to do that,” Bohaty said.
Julie Monfelt with Bee Bum Honey east of Beatrice has been making homemade honey products for the last four years.
She started attending the show three years ago.
“The Sandhill Global does an amazing job at putting on events, the staff are very helpful and we’re happy to be here and be a part of it,” Monfelt said.
The event center hopes to continue growing the show in coming years.
Aside from vendors, the sport show also has a petting zoo, Ms. Shades the Balloon Lady, wildlife encounters and a Husker football player meet-and-greet.
“So Mom and Dad, they can bring their kids so they have something to do,” Bohaty said. “(The event) is not just for parents. Maybe one of those kids will make Mom and Dad want to buy one.”
