Kansas police investigating death of Lincoln High Grad and decorated National Guard medic

Leavenworth Police in Kansas say, Heather Wunderlich, a 35-year-old former medic in the Nebraska Army National Guard and Lincoln High Graduate was killed in a suspected homicide last Thursday.

Police say her 35-year-old boyfriend was taken into custody on suspicion of second degree murder, and another person was taken in for questioning.

Investigators say they responded to a medical emergency at 3:17 p.m. Thursday, upon arrival that’s where they found Wunderlich’s body.

No further details are being released, but police say they do suspect foul play.

An autopsy was performed Friday, but details of that are not being released at this time.

Wunderlich was a decorated medic in the Nebraska Army National Guard, earning the Bronze Star and The National Medic Award in 2007, for her service after being deployed to Iraq in 2006.
