The mystery started on Thursday, free Pepsi products started showing
up in the small Nebraska town of Milligan.
Saturday night, residents got a reason and an answer.
A county music
superstar would perform for a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial.
Milligan is a town of just over 200 people but on Saturday
grew to an estimate 5,000.
The reason tiny Milligan was chosen: it's the halfway point
between New York
and Los Angles.
“It's pretty crazy, it's nice to have something like
this happen. You'd think they would have
picked a little better time of the year to do it,” says Wayne Mami, who
lives in a neighboring area.
Saturday morning, Pepsi announced the country artist
performing, Lee Brice.
The 2014 Grammy nominee is visiting at the height of his
blossoming career.
Brice says, “It's been the biggest year of my life, in
my personal life and my professional life, I can't imagine how it can ever go
up from here but I'm happy just where I'm at.”
He says he loved the surprise idea when he got the call from Pepsi.
“It was cool to be able to keep it a secret even until
we were able to get off the plane, get off the bus, come up in here and really
keep it a secret as long as we could,” says Brice.
Brice performed about ten songs.
The concert wrapped up with fireworks.
