‘Les Misérables’ in Lincoln is ‘very different from the movie’
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – “Les Misérables” has come to Lincoln’s Lied Center and will be showing until Sunday.
Officials said the award-winning musical is the most popular in the world, having been seen by over 130 million people.
The ensemble in Lincoln has been putting on the show since October 2022.
Haley Dortch, who plays Fantine in the show, said she’s looking forward to everyone’s reaction to the show.
“A lot of people come in having expectations from the movie,” she said. “I would say the stage adaptation is very different from the movie.”
Dortch saw her first Broadway show when she was 17.
She said these kinds of traveling shows allow anyone to see them without having to go all the way to New York or other big cities.
“It’s so exciting to see cities that I’ve literally never been to before and experience these different states,” Dortch said.
She said in her time touring, one thing she’s learned is to make her performance feel as honest as possible.
“I just naturally have a very different experience than other people that have done the role before me,” she said. “Therefore my storytelling, if I’m honest and authentic, is going to be different.”
Tickets are being sold at the Lied Center’s box office and online and start as low as $29.
