LES restores power after storms knock down power lines and poles

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The thunderstorm that rolled through Tuesday made a lot of work for Lincoln Electric System crews.

Heavy rain and wind brought tree limbs down on power lines.

“With those high winds, what we saw with the heavy, wet rains as well, is weighing down on the tree branches and with the high winds eventually snapping the tree branches into our power lines,” said Fredrick Rumery, the project management supervisor for LES.

Nearly 2,000 customers lost power, and crews worked through the night to get power back up.

Only about 15 customers were still in the dark Wednesday afternoon.

Rumery also wanted to thank community members for calling in those downed lines and poles so LES could get right to work on restoring power.
