Less windy, with lots of sunshine
Sunday was a windy day, especially by summer standards. Fortunately, wind speeds will drastically decrease on Monday. The strongest winds will be in far eastern Nebraska, where we could see speeds nearing 20 mph. However, wind speeds get even lower the farther west you travel.
Monday will be a ordinary day weather-wise, with lots of sunshine and high temperatures in the upper-80s. This is right on par with the average high of 88° for Lincoln.
We are watching some spotty showers in western parts of the state on Monday morning. These showers will have a difficult time making it to eastern Nebraska as they run into some dry air.
Meanwhile, we expect more storm development to the northwest on Monday night. These will move east and southeast overnight and into Tuesday morning. While storms will be possible to the north/west in the overnight hours, skies will likely remain mostly clear for areas closer to Lincoln.
Remnant showers may push into southeast Nebraska on an isolated basis on Tuesday morning. I don’t expect a lot of meaningful rain out of these, but you may come across some raindrops on Tuesday.
After Tuesday, Mother Nature cranks up the heat. We could be dealing with upper-90s for highs on Wednesday. The dreaded humidity will return, too.
