LFR crews investigated ‘suspicious article’ at downtown Lincoln building
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews investigated a “suspicious article” at a building downtown on Thursday.
LFR said its hazardous device unit responded to the building near 21st and N streets around noon.
As the team took a closer look, the building was partially evacuated, and the public was asked to avoid the area.
Spokeswoman MJ Lierman said crews used x-rays, a K-9 unit, and a robot to get the package outside and investigate.
“The box did not look like it was suspicious or had anything hazardous in it,” Lierman said. “But we do appreciate the abundance of caution by everyone involved.”
Around 2:30 p.m., LFR said the investigation was finished and nothing dangerous was found.
Officials said they don’t know yet who delivered the box, but Lincoln Police will be looking into it.
➡️UPDATE: Investigation has been concluded nothing hazardous was found. The scene has been cleared. https://t.co/NxBn3Pku6q
