LFR extinguishes grass fire at west Lincoln homeless camp

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Firefighters put out a small grass fire Monday in west Lincoln.

The blaze broke out about 7:15 p.m. south of West O Street near Salt Creek.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue said the area is a known homeless encampment.

No injured were reported in the fire.

A battalion chief said the cause is under investigation, but firefighters think it may have been sparked by someone smoking or cooking.
