LFR investigating ‘somewhat suspicious’ Lincoln house fire

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue is investigating a house fire in central Lincoln on Friday.

LFR responded to reports of smoke at a home near 33rd and Holdrege streets around 1:20 p.m.

Crews found a small fire in the basement and quickly extinguished it, according to LFR.

Officials said the house is vacant.

The flames caused $5,000 in damage, Battalion Chief Aaron Pospisil said.

He said the fire is “somewhat suspicious.”

The cause is under investigation.
