LFR: Investigators think space heater sparked fire that destroyed two Lincoln homes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Fire investigators are looking into what exactly caused a blaze that destroyed two homes and damaged another in central Lincoln on Tuesday.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue spokeswoman MJ Lierman said investigators think the fire stemmed from a space heater.

But they’re unsure whether it was electrical or caught something else on fire.

Two of the homes near 25th and L streets were deemed a total loss, according to Lierman.  The third one sustained major damage and declared uninhabitable.

Firefighters were at the scene keeping an eye on hot spots until about 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lierman said the investigation is ongoing.
