LFR responded to nearly 50 fireworks-related calls over Fourth of July weekend in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews responded to nearly 50 calls involving fireworks over the Fourth of July weekend.
LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said firefighters responded to about 43 “fire-related” incidents from Thursday to noon on Saturday.
Crews were also sent out on five EMS calls involving burns or other “traumatic injuries” tied to fireworks.
Since some reports are still not complete, meaning these numbers could change, Lierman noted.
Firefighters also reported seeing an increase in incidents involving fires in trash cans and dumpsters, in comparison to last year.
There was also an increase in incidents involving fences and garages, Lierman said.
