LFR responds to fire at downtown Lincoln apartment

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to a fire at a downtown apartment building Wednesday morning.
Two LFR engines were initially called to the apartment near 13th and O streets around 8 a.m.
But Battalion Chief Jim Bopp said more crews were called in after a business reported water coming from the ceiling. The apartment building was evacuated.
LFR entered a second-floor apartment and found “burnt materials” on a stove, according to Bopp. The sprinkler system appeared to have extinguished the fire.
An inspector is on the scene investigating the fire, and the amount of damage is unknown.
The apartment has since been cleared of smoke, and residents were able to reenter, Bopp said.
