LFR safely disposes of suspicious powder in central Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Firefighters removed a suspicious substance Thursday night from a home in central Lincoln.

Police notified Lincoln Fire & Rescue of a powder at a duplex at 24th and Washington streets, officials said.

Officers thought it could be used to make homemade explosives.

LFR responded, and a hazardous device technician removed the powder, Battalion Chief Jeremy Gegg said.

The powder was safely disposed of, according to LFR.

Gegg did not say what the powder was but confirmed that it could be used to make explosives.
