Lied Center to celebrate Day of the Dead with live music showing of ‘Coco’
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Halloween is Tuesday, but the day after is also special in some cultures.
It’s called Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead.
The holiday originated in Mexico but is celebrated all over Latin America.
In Lincoln, the Lied Center is putting on a special event to commemorate the occasion.
It will be showing “Coco” with music from a 20-member live orchestra from Mexico.
Bill Stephan, executive director of the Lied, said it’s exciting to have a show that will bring kids to the theater to experience live music with a movie they may already know.
“They’ll get to hear this orchestra and hear a live music concert in a way that they may not have ever seen something before,” he said. “And it will be pretty magnificent.”
It will be only the second time the Lied Center has shown a movie with music being played by a live band.
The show is at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the box office or on the Lied Center website.
