Light mix possible each night in southeast Nebraska starting Thursday
Golly! Hopefully the weather today made you jolly! After a mild and warmer Wednesday, changes are coming around the corner.
Overnight into Thursday, a cold front will pass through with no precipitation expected. It’ll knock highs tomorrow for us back to “normal” in the middle 40s. That coming after upper 50s were observed on Wednesday. Skies will be mostly to partly sunny with more cloud cover overall. The day will be largely uneventful, until the late evening.
Thursday night into Friday, a system will track to our south. It’ll be south enough to keep most dry, but far southeast Nebraska is back into question. Latest runs of short-term models (like the version of Stormcast below) are suggesting a short time of rain into a light snow, with a brief period of freezing rain possible during the transition. Accumulations would be about a trace at best.
The other two chances heading into the weekend include Lincoln, and areas south of I-80 in southeast Nebraska. On Friday, there will be a chance at light rain transitioning to snow with daytime temperatures in the 30s and around freezing. A dusting is possible to come from this.
Another late, small chance Saturday night is there, too. With temperatures below freezing at night, it looks like each chance Friday and Saturday could start as rain and transition to snow. Accumulations are expected to be minimal through the weekend.
Despite a cooler day on Friday, we’ll moderate nicely on Sunday and heading into the first full week of December.
