Light rain continues through Nebraska state championships

Light rain first started on Sunday, slowly adding up to our first measurable rainfall of the month. It’s been a while! The last time we saw anything more than a trace was back on October 27th.

Light rain is expected to continue for most of Monday. Generally, those south of I-80 will see the most of this activity throughout the day, with rain slipping south by Monday night as the forcing moves farther away.

A few Nebraska high school football state championship games will happen in Memorial Stadium today, with the first kicking off by 10:15 a.m. Monday morning.

Bringing the ponchos and rain gear to these games will be necessary as it’ll be cool and rainy. Temperatures should hover in the middle 40s all day long.

Thanksgiving week will feature a little bit of everything day by day. To start, it’ll be rainy and overcast on Monday.

By Tuesday, winds will pick up significantly out of the northwest with gusts around 40 mph.

Wednesday will be warm again.

Then Thanksgiving, we’ll cool back down into the 40s with mostly sunny skies.

And finally on Friday, some of the coldest air of the week is expected.

Week Ahead

In all, travel days leading up to Thanksgiving look uneventful weather-wise. That’s good news! After Thanksgiving, things look more active for areas west of Lincoln.

So what about the talk of snow on Friday? The latest guidance seems to have dropped off snow chances as of late for us. Most models keep it west, so we’ll continue to watch to see if that trend holds. For now, we’ll keep chances small heading into the weekend.
