Limited chance at spotty showers; still mild
So far, a mild start especially in the Capital City as temperatures have been hovering in the mid to upper 40s. Leading into the rest of the day, temperatures will increase to the lower 70s with a bit more cloud cover today.
Highs across southeast Nebraska will similar, all around the lower 70s.
With a weak, passing boundary this afternoon, there’s the slightest chance of a brief shower that would only amount to some droplets here and there. We’ll see winds shift more so out of the northwest – but light enough that we’ll still be mild today.
And those very spotty showers may very well have a hard time showing up with the limited moisture in the atmosphere right now.
Speaking of dry conditions, with winds expected to pick up into Thursday, there’s potential for extreme fire danger. Gusts could be around 40-45 mph across the eastern half of Nebraska.
With more cold air arriving with these stronger winds, we’ll see temperatures knock off by about 10 degrees for tomorrow.
And lastly a thing to note: with storms possible next week (Monday into Tuesday), we’ll be watching for some severe potential as well. There are still questions that remain unclear, but this is worth talking about as the Storm Prediction Center started to highlight nearby areas for this potential 7 days out.
But before that, this weekend looks very warm with temperatures climbing into the mid and almost upper 80s.
