Lincoln Airport announces direct United Airlines flights to Houston
Flights start to take off from LNK in September
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Houston, we have a connection!
Lincoln Airport and United Airlines announced direct flights to Texas’ largest city starting in September, with tickets already available for purchase.
They will be the first flights out of the Lincoln Airport each day, usually departing at 6:30 a.m. The flights back will be the last ones to get in, usually around 8:30 p.m.
For the airport, getting flights to and from Texas was a priority, especially after the loss of Delta service in December.
“That was two flights a day to Minneapolis, and so that really hurt our passengers, especially if they really liked to not fly to Chicago or Denver,” spokeswoman Rachel Barth said. “So this gives people an additional option to fly somewhere warm, especially during the winter months, if you’re hitting that connection. But Texas has been a market we’ve been trying to go after for a while.”
Barth said the process for getting these flights took a lot of research.
She said the money to get these flights to Lincoln came from a federal grant and with help from the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
