LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An apartment building in central Lincoln was evacuated Sunday morning due to a fire in a trash chute.

Several Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were called to the apartment building near 27th and F streets around 8 a.m.

Battalion Chief Jeremy Gegg said something “combustible” was thrown down the trash chute.

No one was damaged and there wasn’t any significant damage, Gegg said.  The fire was put out a few minutes after LFR arrived.

The apartment building – which has about 10 units – was evacuated as LFR responded to the fire.
