Nine Nebraska artists helped design a unique mural that has been put on display throughout Lincoln.

The LUX Center for the Arts and Constellation Studios are celebrating nine Nebraska artists who designed a wheat paste mural. The artists were to design and carve their own woodblock print. The Lincoln artists were Byron Anway, Nancy Friedemann-Sanchez, Gerardo Meza, Nathan Murray, Kyle Nobles and Katharen Wiese. Sarah Rowe and Bart Vargas represented Omaha. Ryan Crotty  represented Auburn.

The murals are made out of mulberry pulp and wheat paste. The two components create flexibility to attach onto brick buildings. The murals are temporary, but can withstand heavy storms.

Gallery director Katelyn Farneth said her team wanted to give Lincoln residents a unique way to experience art during a pandemic.

“People who can’t come into the galleries especially with COVID-19 and everything going on right now, can still do kind of a socially distanced art experience with print making,” she said.

The murals will be on display through September.
